Thailand and Indonesia are connected by visible and invisible ties. The two countries are
not physically located next to each other but share natural boundaries over the sea at the Exclusive
Economic Zone (EEZ) in the north of the Straits of Malacca and in the Andaman Sea. Similarities
of hearts and minds of Thais and Indonesians have bonded the two countries together and laid
a strong foundation of the long-standing relationship without any historical baggage.
North Sumatra Province stands as a cornerstone of the
Indonesian economy, consistently demonstrating
economic growth that surpasses the national average. In 2023, the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP)
per capita of North Sumatra was reached IDR 68.31
million, a testament to the province’s rich natural
resources which bolster its export activities.
